How NutriMeter collects, uses, protects, and deletes personal data for nutrition tracking and AI-assisted food analysis.
Effective date: 15 June 2026General wellness product
NutriMeter is a general-wellness and nutrition-awareness app for meal logging, daily insights, and healthy habits. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, cure, mitigate, prevent, or treat any disease or health condition.
Data we collect
NutriMeter collects account details, profile preferences, food logs, meal notes, uploaded food photos, nutrition insights, device metadata, support messages, and optional wearable or health data you choose to connect.
- Account information such as name, email address, locale, subscription status, and app settings.
- Nutrition content such as food entries, photos, timestamps, portion estimates, macro and calorie targets, and generated insights.
- Optional health integrations such as activity, steps, energy expenditure, and related wearable signals when you grant permission.
How we use data
We use data to provide nutrition tracking, estimate nutrients, personalize insights, operate subscriptions, improve safety and reliability, answer support requests, prevent abuse, and satisfy legal obligations.
AI processing
AI features are optional and off until you enable them. When enabled, food logs, meal descriptions, and food photos you submit may be sent to third-party AI providers to analyze ingredients, estimate portions, and produce general nutrition summaries. We minimize prompts to the information needed for analysis, strip obvious contact details where practical, and do not ask the model to diagnose, treat, or give disease-specific medical advice. AI output is an estimate for general wellness and may be inaccurate.
Consumer health data
Some jurisdictions (for example California, Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut) treat nutrition and activity information as consumer health data. Where those laws apply, we process such data only with your consent, provide this notice, and offer in-app deletion tools. You can withdraw consent by disabling the relevant feature or deleting your data.
Security measures
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational controls including encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege practices, logging, vendor review, backups, and incident response procedures. No internet service can be guaranteed perfectly secure.
Sub-processors
We rely on vetted service providers to run NutriMeter. Current draft sub-processors include hosting and database providers, analytics/crash reporting, payment processors, email/support tools, Apple and Google platform services, and third-party AI providers for AI-assisted food analysis.
International transfers
Your data may be processed in the United Kingdom, United States, European Economic Area, and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms.
Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required for legal, tax, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution reasons. User-owned nutrition data is deleted or anonymized after account deletion unless limited retention is necessary.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent. You can also request deletion through the app or by emailing [email protected].
Children's privacy
NutriMeter is not intended for children under 13 or for anyone below the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal data.
